Proud To Be A Girl Scout

What is “Proud To Be A Girl Scout?

Did you know that March is Girl Scout Month? That’s right, in March Girl Scouts across the country celebrate everything Girl Scouting has to offer like, making friends, memories, and learning skills that will last a life-time. This year is Girl Scouts’ 95th and the council’s 45th Anniversary and we want you and your troop to get involved by participating in the “Proud To Be A Girl Scout” promotional program!

When?

The program will run from March 1 to March 31, 2007 and is in its first year. The council’s goal is to have over 100 troops participate, so, the council needs your troop’s help!

Who?

All Girl Scouts ages 5-17 throughout the council and their troop!

Directions on how to get involved?

Getting involved is pretty simple, first, your troop needs to pick out two of the five activities that they would like to do below. If your troop does two out of the five activities, each Girl Scout within the troop will receive a special certificate. If your troop decides to do three out of the five activities below, then your troop will be entered into a special troop activity program credit drawing that will be awarded to troops from each Girl Scout age level. But, in order to qualify, your troop needs to provide a group picture doing one of the activities.

Activities that your troop can choose from include:

  • Paint a Girl Scout mural at a local business. Just call a local business, and ask if you can paint their windows sometime in March. Grocery stores, restaurants, and other places are great options.

  • Wearing your Girl Scout uniform to school as a troop two different times in March.

  • Make Girl Scout posters at a troop meeting to hang up at your school. Just ask permission first!

  • Organize a Girl Scout Anniversary party for one of your troop’s meetings in March and invite girls from outside your troop to attend.

  • Come up with your own fun Girl Scout activity! Just let us know what you did and how it helped get the word out about Girl Scouts!

Once your troop has decided on what they would like to do, then it’s time to take action and begin planning those activities for the month of March. After completing your troop’s activities, fill out the activity participation form on the next page and send it into the council office by Friday, April 6, 2007 so your troop members can get their participation certificates. And, if your troop did three of the five activities, then your troop will be entered into a special troop activity program credit drawing! Just remember to send in a group photo of your troop doing the activity to qualify!
