Make the World a Better Place
When
many of us hear the words
Girls Scouts we think of cookies, friendship circles, s’mores, S.W.A.P.,
patches, and helping others.
Current
Girl Scout members and alumnae
will have the opportunity to celebrate Girl
Scouting’s 95th,
and Lac Baie Council’s 45th,
anniversary by participating in community service as well as exploring the
history and traditions of Girl Scouts.
Our
council,
along with other Girl Scouts across the nation,
will be celebrating Girl
Scouting’s
anniversary by taking part in Make the World a Better Place
Week.
During
the week of March 11, individuals and troops will be encouraged to participate
in community service that aligns with the Girl Scout mission statement.
Girls
who participate in Make the World a Better Place Week
will
earn a free patch. Details on the patch are included in the downloadable packet
below.
Troop
leaders will need to fill out the pre-registration form and return it to the
council by February 28,
2007.
A
confirmation packet will be sent to you the week of March 5 and will include a
patch order form.
This
form will need to be turned in with the final packet by Tuesday,
May 1, 2007. In addition, the council is
calling all Girl Scout alumnae
home.
If
you are a Girl Scout alumnae
or know someone who is please have them fill out the form on page 15.
Alumnae
will have the opportunity to participate in Make the World a Better Place Week
by participating in community service projects and/or assisting with troops in
their area.
Alumnae
members, currently registered, who refer a non-registered alumnae
friend will receive a pen and so will the friend.
