Calling Girl Scout Alumnae Home

Join us in our celebration of 95 years of Girl Scouts of the USA along with the 45th anniversary of Girl Scouts of Lac Baie Council. We would love for you to share your stories, photos and memories with us.  Below is an excerpt of Ms. Roberta Lawler Early Delaruelle’s Girl Scout story rich in history, culture and vividness!

I was a member of the first Senior Girl Scout troop in Green Bay .  We met at Union Congregational Church!  In the summer of 1943, we biked all the way down and back of the Door County Peninsula .  We stayed in cottages along the way.  Judge Grass’ cottage on Moonlight Bay was at the tip of the Peninsula , I remember.  Our bikes had balloon tires.  At one point, we met a group riding on bikes with the narrow tires that are now popular!  At Mrs. Bies’ cottage, we had honey butter on our toast in the morning.  Butter and sugar were rationed because of the war and that was to make the butter go farther.  It was good and it was good of her to share with us.  Girl Scouting is a good deal!
