Women for Diversity 2007 Awards Luncheon!

Girl Scouts of Lac Baie Council hosted the Fifth Annual Women for Diversity Awards Luncheon on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Rock Garden Banquet and Conference Center. This is an annual event that will honor three nominated women from Lac Baie Council’s seven county service area that has made significant strides toward bridging the gap between diverse cultures and abilities in their communities.

The honored guest speaker of the afternoon was Carolina Bacelis (check out her bio by clicking on this link: Carolina Bacelis.   Carolina brings to her presentations words of encouragement as she describes her journey from Merida, a city in southern Mexico through to her college graduation.  With her sincere words of her life’s path, she is able to urge girls to remember the people who helped them in their corridor of life .  She is able to aid the development in confidence, leadership skills and ability to learn.

The celebration of diversity has always been a part of the Girl Scouts. The vision is that differences in race, religion, culture, and abilities are accepted and applauded for how they enrich one’s life, and the many ways in which they enhance the well being of the community as a whole. Girl Scout leadership reaches out into all communities every day to ensure that every girl, everywhere has equal opportunities and choices presented to them.
