01-28-08 - Realignment "Kick Off" in the Lambeau Field Atrium

A grand “kick-off” celebration of a newly formed council with a special ceremony to commemorate the “legacy” councils and the creation of the new council, as well as activities, food and fun for Girl Scouts and their families, our volunteers, donors, etc.

The realigning of councils will create a Girl Scout culture that is more innovative, inclusive, agile, accountable and girl centered.  Seven councils will join to form one new council for north central Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan .  The council will serve over 29,600 girls and 7,900 adults in 52 counties. The councils include:  Girls Scouts of Birch Trails, WI ( Wausau ), Girl Scouts of the Fox River Area (Appleton), Girl Scouts of Indian Waters Council ( Eau Claire ), Girl Scouts of Manitou Council ( Sheboygan ), Girl Scouts of Peninsula Waters (Marquette), Girl Scouts of Woodland Council ( Wisconsin Rapids ) and Girl Scouts of Lac Baie Council ( Green Bay ).  All councils in the new jurisdiction have already been actively working together to successfully form the new council and the formal merger activity will take place over the next six months.

6-05-07 - Please be aware of the new Wisconsin Booster Seat Law!

The new law going into effect in Wisconsin on June 1, 2006 (with a six month citation grace period) requires that drivers must ensure that children ages 4 to 8 who weigh less than 80 pounds and are less than 4 feet 9 inches tall are required to be in a seatbelted booster seat. Children ages 4 to 8 who exceed the height and weight levels would need only to be restrained in a seatbelt in the back seat. This applies to public, for-profit, and non-profit sectors, as well as private individuals. All drivers of children in their vehicles are responsible for compliance. If your daughter fits the above criteria and is carpooling or attending a council event that includes transportation, she will need to bring a booster seat. (Note: Buses are exempt because they currently are not required to have seatbelts.) Please remember that Safety-Wise specifies that girls under 12 years of age should sit in the back seat “whenever possible” due to airbag deployment risks. Some vehicles specify front seat requirements on the passenger visor, and all car seat and booster seat instructions should indicate where the seat should be properly installed (i.e., front or back seat).

In short...car seat until age 4, booster seat until age 8, always belted, always in the back seat!
